Lyndy's Memorial Fund

As a primary school teacher, Lynn passionately believed in the importance of maximising opportunities for learning. Underprivileged children have fewer opportunities, so the Lyndy’s fund aims to make financial grants to enhance children’s development in two principal ways:

1- Funding educational experiences for children in Scotland whose families who cannot afford to pay, such as:

-External workshops on topics like history or creative arts

-Trips to a Science or Sea Life Centre

-Cycling instruction and safety tuition for those who don't have access to a bike

-Residential camps at centres such as Benmore

2- Supporting feeding programmes for children at community schools in seriously poor areas of Zambia that Lynn volunteered at:

-For many children in Zambia, food provided at school is their only or most substantial meal of the day.

-It is well established that hungry children find it hard to concentrate enough to learn

-10p can provide one simple, but nutritious, meal for a child

-Some existing feeding programmes have stopped altogether due to a reduction in overseas aid. We’d love to help them restart.

Headteachers are usually best placed to determine need and execute use of resources so Lyndy’s works directly with them to fund projects consistent with its objectives.
